Guardian Home Program

Guardian Home Program

We’re all about giving our breeding dogs the good life, which is why we keep our dog count at home in check—after all, we don’t want a canine takeover! To keep our breeding program top-notch, we’re always on the hunt for some top-tier bloodlines. Enter our Guardian Home Program: it’s like matchmaking for dogs! This clever scheme lets us grow our breeding game while ensuring our pups live it up in Guardian Homes, where they’re spoiled like the little furry royalty they are!

*To become a Guardian Home, you must live within an hour of Columbia, SC. It’s essential that you’re ready to handle drop-off and pick-up for health testing, vet visits, breeding and whelping puppies. This is a rewarding commitment, and we’re excited to have you join us!*

As a Guardian Home, you’ll be thrilled to welcome a high-quality, pick of the litter puppy into your life completely free of charge! You’ll provide a loving forever home for this adorable pup while Wilson Loves Doodles retains breeding rights. For female dogs this exciting journey begins at sexual maturity and lasts until they’ve whelp four litters. Our male dogs usually have longer contracts and are bred on an “as needed” basis.

While your dog is part of our amazing breeding program, Wilson Loves Doodles is thrilled to cover all breeding-related expenses! As a Guardian Home, you'll take charge of standard pet costs like grooming dog food, and veterinary visits (including annual vaccinations and parasite prevention according to our guidelines), along with training and all the essential care your pup needs. Once your dog completes her health testing, I'll set up the perfect breeding schedule and choose the ideal mate. Throughout her pregnancy, your female will stay with you, and we’ll arrange for her return just days before her due date to ensure a smooth whelping and a wonderful experience caring for her adorable puppies!  Once the puppies are weaned, which is typically when pups are around 6-8 weeks of age, the female can be picked up by her Guardian Family. When the dog has completed his/her breeding obligations, we pay for the spay/neuter and release ownership of the dog to you so that he/she can return home to enjoy the wonderful life that you have provided for him/her since puppyhood.

Being a Guardian Family is a rewarding responsibility. If you’re a guardian of female dogs, managing heat cycles and ensuring your girl is protected from unwanted males is essential. You should be prepared for periods of separation, around 2-3 months during each litter, as this is part of the process. Understanding the signs of a heat cycle and maintaining clear communication with us will lead to a successful breeding experience. It's crucial to keep male dogs away from intact females, as they can only mate with approved partners. Together, we will navigate this journey confidently.

At Wilson Loves Doodles, we are dedicated to the well-being of all our dogs. We recognize the significant benefits of our program and are eager to foster a strong partnership with you. We look forward collaborating with you as we enhance the care and experience for our beloved pups.
